Take this MP5 amp to your office, bedroom, dorm room, library, study room, cafe, etc., and just plug into your computer with the USB cable (forget about your MP3/MP4 or iPod - with a crappy DAC build-in), you will now enjoy audiophile quality of your music like you never experienced before. There is a similar amp later came out so-called "Fatman iTube", OEMed by Dared. The Fatman iTube has no DAC build-in. The MP-5 has a high quality internal DAC (Digital Analog Converter) that has a USB port you can connect to your computer to play music from digital files directly. Why? Because you do not want to use Computer's crapy DAC to play your music. You want the digital bit stream directly go to your Audiophile MP-5 to play out the music.

Why does the MP-5 sound so good (very good transient response, precisely details, incredible soundstage and very high-resolution)? Because it is specially designed and includes (US version only):

High quality E-Core power Transformer;

Gold PCB (print circuit board, Dared had tried silver and copper PCBs, and pure point-to-point wire. The gold PCB performs best!), no point-to-point wires, no messy and lengthy wires in this amp (minimized the electric-magneto effect - pure sound!)

Key resistors: AB- Allen Bradley NOS resistors (US made) --- US verion only

Rubycon (Japan made) coupling capacitors -- US version only.

Nippon/Nichico (Japan made) filter and bypass capacitors

HT volume pot (Taiwan made, audiophile grade) and pure (100%) silver wires (shield) from inputs to the volume pot, all solders are non-lead copper/silver.

Fast Fuji diodes (Japan made)

BB PCM2702E DAC chip (US made) (DAC - Digital-Analog-Converter), and Philips TDA7265 chip

Audiophile type tube: 12AX7 (Shuguang) preamp and buffer -- US version only. Non-US version uses other type tubes. In order to get best sound, Audiophiles/Music-lovers now can try any other brand of 12AX7, 6751 or ECC83 type tubes or even 12AU7/ECC83 type tubes (there are lots of those NOS tubes available today).

Cat's eye tube metering for power output (Shuguang). Two light-green bars displayed on EM87 tube are dancing with the music. As the amp approaches full power, two light-green bars close in, from top and bottom (cat's eye close). If they touch, the amp has clipped.

Soft start with 30 second relay protection, double fuses protection (main and on-board)

Steel chrome chassis and true piano wood panels, and tube cage

One USB cable, one pair of RCA interconnect cable, and adapter/cables for iPod/MP3MP4 outputs, and one power cord.

What type of speakers do I need for this amp? Any speaker > 88 dB. Initial test with Klipsch speakers gave increditable results. These speakers are very good with high dB and cheap too. Klipsch Synergy SB-3 (94 dB) sells for $350, Klipsch Synergy III F-1 (94 dB) sells for $260 and the III F-3 (98 dB) sells only for $450 at BestBuy store. Click here to learn.
